We were approached by Cleveland Arson Task Force to produce a simple and easy to use solution to remove the real threat of arson and intimidation through letterflaps. The solution: a universal ‘flaplock’ that can be fitted quickly and easily onto any existing and new properties. This provides piece of mind not only to those living with a concern, but also to empty, void or vulnerable properties that are occasionally or permanently unoccupied. Due to demand, the FLAPLOCK was designed and manufactured by The Safety Letterbox Company Ltd, with the co-operation of the Cleveland Arson Task Force. This product is inexpensive and easy to use, fitted within seconds to the inside of an external door in line with the existing letterflap opening. This product has been successfully tried and tested in various site conditions throughout the UK, with consideration and feedback from Housing Associations and Fire and Anti Arson Teams. Once fitted, the occupier or owner has the choice of allowing the flap to be open or closed ie. locked or unlocked, to suit their needs. It also has the facility for fitting a padlock as an additional more permanent protection if required.
